What's a Mega #OhmHour?
Mega #OhmHours are super-valuable #OhmHours. They typically occur when the grid becomes exceptionally stressed and there is an especially strong need for energy savings.
Depending on your area, Mega #OhmHours can occur as frequently as once or twice a month. We’ll notify you about a Mega #OhmHour as soon as we know it’s happening, which can range from over a day to 30 minutes before the event.
How do Mega #OhmHour rewards work?
During a Mega #OhmHour, your payouts accelerate as you save more energy. You earn a higher reward level by saving a higher percentage below your forecasted use. You will also incur a higher penalty level as your usage increases farther above your forecast.
Depending on how your actual use compares to your forecast, you will earn or lose between 0 and 4000 points ($40) per kWh. We will tell you the exact reward details of each Mega #OhmHour before the event, and you can opt out if you need to.
Here’s an example of one possible reward structure you could receive for a Mega #OhmHour:
Security Deposit
When you sign up for Mega #OhmHours, we deduct 500 points to hold as a security deposit while you’re in the program. If you are penalized for using more than your forecast in a Mega #OhmHour and the penalty is greater than the points in your account, your deposit will be used to pay the rest of the penalty. If this happens, you will be removed from Mega #OhmHours but can sign up again later.

Visit your Settings page and sign up here! You can leave the Mega #OhmHour program at any time unless a Mega #OhmHour has already been planned with you included.
