Why does OhmConnect need my utility username and password?

In order to prove to the grid that you successfully saved energy, OhmConnect requires the ability to analyze and measure your "smart meter" data. When you share your utility credentials with us, you provide us with that ability.

By signing up for OhmConnect and sharing your account information, you are telling your utility that you'd like to share your data with OhmConnect to participate and get paid for saving energy. After you have shared your account information with us and signed your enrollment form (required by most utilities), we can pay you for your savings.

Security is top of mind at OhmConnect. All personal information is encrypted through robust AES 256 bit CBC encryption algorithms and stored on an isolated server. OhmConnect does not have access to sensitive information relating to your payment method for your utility. For added safety, we recommend creating a strong password for your account by using upper and lower case letters, numbers, and symbols (e.g. Kt&q326huA).

If you have any additional questions, we're happy to chat with you anytime at talk@ohmconnect.com.
